Invitational Events Overview

The Cavendish Invitational centers on the prestigious Cavendish Invitational Pairs event, the world's largest money bridge tournament.
about callout
The Pairs tournament is an exclusive, invitation-only event that brings together more than a hundred of the world's top bridge players to compete for the coveted title of Cavendish Invitational Pairs champion. The event features a Calcutta format in which pairs are auctioned off to the highest bidder during an exciting auction that kicks off Thursday evening. The pairs go head to head in matches over the next three days, cumulating on Mother's Day, the final day of the tournament. The auction money is pooled together and paid out to the owners of the top finishers. A player's pool based on entry fees by the players themselves is paid directly to the top finishing pairs.

Thanks to it's success last year, we will once again be holding a silent pre-auction that will start Wednesday, May 7 at 9 a.m. and end Thursday May 8 at 4 p.m. At the close of the silent auction, the bidding will end for all pairs that received a high bid of less than $15,000. All pairs with silent bids of $15,000 and higher will continue in the bidding process at the Thursday night auction.

John Roberts Teams Event

Along with the Pairs tournament is the John Roberts Teams event, named after World Bridge Productions co-founder John Roberts, who passed away in 2002. This event is also by invitation only and features the world's top teams. But unlike the Cavendish Pairs tournament, the John Roberts Teams event isn't auction based. Instead, it features a prize pool based on entry fees from participating teams.
